Farizal Farhan, an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) degree from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom before obtaining the Malaysian Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
He has served as Corporate Partner in two of Malaysia's top law firms and has been in-house counsel for numerous organizations, including Hess Oil & Gas Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of Hess Corporation, now part of Chevron), Avocet Mining (M) OHQ Sdn. Bhd. (formerly a subsidiary of Avocet Mining PLC), PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCHEM), and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). Additionally, he has acted as a special advisor to the Group Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide Holdings Berhad.
Farizal offers legal advice in Malaysia on energy, infrastructure, and projects, as well as on mergers and acquisitions. He represents developers, listed companies, and government-linked entities in the energy sector, focusing on gas-fired, solar, biomass, waste-to-energy, and petrochemical projects, along with upstream and downstream oil and gas activities. His work encompasses the project lifecycle covering land, concessions, as well as EPCC contracts, power purchase agreements, project financing, and contract management. On the corporate side, Farizal handles acquisitions of project and operating businesses, joint ventures, due diligence, regulatory licensing, and corporate governance matters.
He has successfully advised, negotiated, and managed energy, projects and infrastructure related contracts and projects with prominent organizations such as INEOS, Technip, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Honeywell, Masdar, General Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, ThyssenKrupp, Yokogawa, Lactalis, Nestlé, KEPCO, and Shell.
